Lake Alpine
Lake Alpine is the central attraction of the Calaveras Ranger District. It lies in a timbered setting at an elevation of 7,300 feet and covers 180 acres. Summer visitors enjoy swimming, boating, hiking, camping, fishing, picnicking, biking, and interpretive programs.

Paddling Lake Alpine
There are multiple locations to park with easy access to Lake Alpine. Note there is a $5 Day Use Fee which can be paid on site via your phone or in person at the Lake Alpine Lodge. The main Lake Alpine Parking lot is located across from the Lake Alpine Lodge. Additional parking can be found off hwy 4 past (east) of the Alpine Lodge. Chickaree Day Use Area (open 24/7) has additional designated parking with easy access to the Silver Creek Lagoon area of Lake Alpine.
Afternoon westerly winds are common and the lake can be choppy until late afternoon. The Chickaree Day Use put-in offers the most sheltered area to launch your kayak or SUP.
Lake Alpine is a great location for Full Moon Paddles!
No boat in camping allowed at Lake Alpine.
